HUMONGOUS Lot of Early LOCUS Fanzine Issues: Almost Complete Lot of #1-146 (116 issues),
Includes Ultra-Rare Trial Issue, Trial Issue Announcement Letter & First Official Issue of Locus #1 1968

Locus magazine is one of the longest-running, and most respected science fiction news and review magazines in the industry. It is in essence the trade journal for the industry, and it all started right here. In the beginning, it was a mimeographed one-page news fanzine promoting the “Boston in ’71” Worldcon bid. Because all of the issues in this lot issues were printed using the mimeograph process, print-runs were less than a few hundred as mimeo stencils would wear out well before 500 copies. Therefore, ALL (all auction pieces were printed via mimeo) these Locus issues are extremely rare and tough to find in any condition. This is your opportunity to obtain super-rare copies of this historical newszine. Most are from the collection of legendary science fiction/comic historian Fred Patten.

Locus was founded in May 1968 in New York by Charles N. Brown (who later took over full editorship), Ed Meskys, and Dave Vanderwerf as a one-page news fanzine printed by mimeograph to promote the “Boston in ’71” Worldcon bid. An announcement letter and 2 trial issues were sent to various fans and professionals to drum up subscriptions before issue #1 was mailed.

This 116-piece lot starts with the exceptionally rare “Locus Announcement Letter” and "Trial Issue Number One", plus the first official issue: Locus #1:
