LOAMMI BALDWIN (1745-1807) American officer in Revolutionary War; served in the Lexington Alarm. In the opening days of the war, Baldwin's contingent of troops from Woburn (Mass) was the first to ambush the British during their retreat from Concord, at "Bloody Angle", killing several British officers in the leading companies. He was later promoted to Colonel, taking part in the surprise of the Hessians at Trenton, but was forced to retire in 1777 due to failing health. DS, 1p, April 20, 1787, oblong 8vo, Boston.
