<B>LLOYD GOFF (1908-1982)</B></I><BR>Untitled Paris Street with Green Awning, 1928<BR>Oil on unstretched canvas<BR>9 1/2in. x 7 1/4in.<BR>Unsigned, accompanied by certification by the executor of the Lloyd Goff Estate<BR><BR>Done while Goff was studying in Paris at the Academies Julian and de la Grand Chaumiere in 1928, the color scheme is decidedly fauvist, with the sky containing virtually every color in the composition: purple, blue, green, and yellow; reds and oranges on the street, echoed by the reds and oranges of the chimneys.<BR><BR>A small masterpiece of light and color, this canvas retains a freshness and state of preservation not normally seen in paintings near eighty years old. This is due to having been stacked unstretched beneath other works, thus protected from the effects of oxidation, vibration, and light.<BR><BR>Provenance:<BR>Estate of Lloyd Goff<BR><BR> <B>Condition Report:</B> Excellent condition.
