Regionalist artists like Lloyd Goff, who were coming of age in the late 1920s and 1930s, were the generation first affected by these changes. In this painting, Lloyd Goff explores the pictorial possibilities of a large industrial plant. He uses the geometric arrangement of the buildings and smokestacks as a strong design element. He plays these strong linear elements against the organic design elements of billowing smoke in the sky and bushes in the foreground. The resulting painting is a masterpiece of light, color, and form.

Provenance:
Estate of Lloyd GoffCondition Report: Relined with minor scattered inpainting.
