LITTLE WOUND, OGLALLAH CHIEF BY C.M. BELL. Albumen photograph, 5 x 7" mounted on large board. Not signed, but attributed to Bell on the basis of studio props. Bell was a long-time Washington photographer who captured images of visiting Americana Indian delegation members (see Fleming and Richardson, 1988). From the Rookwood Pottery files, and purchased when the studio was moved in the early 1960s; probably originally purchased from the Bureau of American Ethology. With Rookwood's typed strip label on recto and handstamp on verso. Image with light pencilled "halo" else fine.
