Beautiful Serigraph by noted artistl LeRoy Neiman, titled "Homage to Remington". This particular Serigraph is an Artist Proof and was issued in 1973. Excellent condition. Framed behind glass, signed AP lower left and LeRoy Neiman in pencil, lower right. Image size is 28"W x 18"H, framed size is 40"W x 30"H. About the artist: LeRoy Neiman (1921-)St Paul, MN. Known for his bright, colorful paintings and screen prints of famous sports stars in a semi-abstract style, LeRoy Neiman became one of the 20th centuries most successful illustrators. At sporting events, he became a well-known figure in natty attire with bushy beard and sketchbook. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois. His mediums are oil, enamel, serigraphing and etching, and his studio is in New York City, just off Central Park West. In 2000, a major book of his serigraphs, The Prints of LeRoy Neiman, 1991-2000, was published by Knoedler Publishing of New York. Provenance: This Serigraph belonged to the late Mrs. May Spooner of NJ who passed away at the young age of 100 in the year 2000. The piece was then passed on to her nephew and neice-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Russell, of Virginia Beach, where it has been lovingly preserved all these years. It truly is a beautiful piece!
