CASE, ACCESSORIES & TRUNK TYPE CARTRIDGE MAGAZINE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8”. S# 18295. 30” dovetail barrels are engraved “LINSLEY BROTHERS 14, LANDS LANE. LEEDS” on narrow game rib with doll’s head extension. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 ½” chambers. Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety. Pivoting third fastened engaging doll’s head rib extension, reinforced frome & double triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage. Very nicely cut small scroll within scroll & line borders. Blued trigger guard with more scroll on bow, has S# on tang. Straight grip buttstock made of very nicely marble & fiddle figured European walnut measures 14 ¼” with checkered horn buttplate. Multi point pattern checkering is at grip & a vacant silver shield is on toeline. Matching short splinter forend with nicely shaped horn tip has friction release. Interior is lined in green cloth & has “LINSLEY BROTHERS” paper label in lid. Case contains 2 piece brass & ebony cleaning rod. Pair of “WOODS” marked snap caps, spare oil bottle & old British hunting license. Also included is an oak & leather 15”x10”x5” cartridge magazine with brass corners. Top is embossed “J.M.D.B.”. Interior lid is lined in green cloth & has Linsley Brothers label. CONDITION: fine original as found. Barrels retain approx.. 80% original blue. Loss due to normal hand wear on sides & with some case wear noted on breech ends. Action retain about 60% original case hardening color with evidence of some cleaning to pewter gray on bottom. Trigger guard retains most of its original blue. Stocks retain most of their original finish with knocks & dings. Checkering considerably worn. Bores bright & shiny without any noted problems. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Leather is very dark with many rubs & scuffs. Interior is good with some soiling. Label is oil soaked & foxed. Accessories are good. Case handle is detached & is inside. Straps are missing. Cartridge magazine is fair to good. Leather very dark with many bumps & rubs. Interior is good. Retaining straps intact. Cloth in lid shows considerable insect damage & mold. Label somewhat deteriorated & cracked. Handle is good. Replaced straps are good. (22-4212/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
