<td width="100%">
Ca. 1855 daguerreotype photograph of a wealthy couple. The gentleman somewhat resembles Lincoln. I am in the process of pinning the names of these two people and will add when I receive that information. The style of the woman's hairstyle and and man's tie date the photographs around 1855. The couple appears to be quite wealthy as the woman is wearing a lot of gold and their pose is somewhat aerostatic. ~~~~~ A bit of history on this method of photography~~The daguerreotype is an early type of photograph in which the image is exposed directly onto a mirror-polished surface of silver bearing a coating of silver halide particles deposited by iodine vapor. In later developments bromine and chlorine vapors were also used, resulting in shorter exposure times. Unlike later photographic processes that supplanted it, the daguerreotype is a direct positive image-making process with no "negative" original. The Daguerreotype case is marked Little, Parsons & Co. pat 1856. Photographs are placed in original Thermoplastic "Union" Case patterned in the Victorian Textured, Central Oval Design with a
decorative border.
Oval Brass Mat bordered by a gold velvet mat preserver. The Thermoplastic "Union" Case is cracked at bottom and missing small piece on edge and brass decorative oval frames show signs of age.

Measures 3.75" high and 6.5" wide when open and 3.75" high and 3.75" wide when closed
