(1733 - 1810) American Revolution major general, commanding an army in the south, captured at Charleston and later exchanged. Later Secretary of War (1781 - 1783). Scarce war-date D.S. ""B. Lincoln"" 1p. 4to., [n.p.] 1780, his expense account submitted to the War Office from July 25, 1780 to Dec. 5, 1780, listing various clothing items, including a ""Beaver Hatt"", ""6yds. fine holland"", ""21 yds. Linen"" ""1 oz. Thread No. 16"", ""1 Pr. Boots"", among other soft goods. Signed at bottom noting his receipt of the goods at extraordinarily inflated prices totaling thousands of pounds. The verso contains a partial inventory of ""Cloathing &c. Remaining in the War Office -- taken Nov. 18, 1780"". Trimmed, tipped to a larger sheet, otherwise very good. Together with an L.S. bearing Lincoln's secretarial signature dated 1788 and concerning financial affairs. Two pieces.
