LITERATURE
Lida Moser, “Roadside Holiday, U.S.A.,” VOGUE, March 1, 1954, pp. 152-155
(five illustrated)
In 1951, Lida Moser, a freelance photographer and member of the Photo League in New York, drove across the United States to California photographing along the way. Works from this trip make up the bulk of this lot including some that VOGUE magazine published in a feature article. About Tennessee, where the illustrated lot was made Moser wrote: “Everyone seemed to be going fishing. Country groceries were selling hominy grits and corn mash. It was Saturday, and we passed happy wagonloads of families going into town. The land rolled like a dark green sea” (Lida Moser, “Roadside Holiday, U.S.A.,” VOGUE, March 1, 1954, p. 152).
