LEWIS A. ARMISTEAD: (1817 - 1863) Confederate brigadier general who led a brigade through Lee's campaigns. At Gettysburg, Armistead led his troops in Pickett's Charge, broke through the Union lines at the copse of trees with his hat on his sword for his men to see, mortally wounded as he leaned upon the cannon of Alonzo Cushing. Ironically, Armistead was leading his men against those of his close friend, Union Gen. Winfield Scott Hancock. Excessively rare and most desirable signature and rank: ""L. A. Armistead Bvt. Maj. 6th Infy". Mounted, very top of "L" just grazed, otherwise fine condition. Armistead's signature is among the rarest and most desirable of all generals from both sides of the conflict. $7,000-9,000
