Lot of seven items recovered from the ruins of the Reichschancellery by an an American soldier sent to establish a dispensay at Potsdam. Included is a letter to Adolf Hitler, 2pp. 8vo., Breslau, Jan. 6, 1945 in which a citizen thanks Hitler: "...for you enormous sacrifice of effort and health and your unending dedication...to save the German land for the German people...". Also present are two letters to Joseph Goebbels: "...American bombers drop bombs daily on our homes. People who are not participants in the war are being killed. And what do Americans think about it? Nothing!...Why is so little being done...there are also rumors we have new airplanes which because of their speed...can destroy everything in the air...the offensive in the west has given us great courage...explain to them...that they are being killed only for the sake of Jews and Bolsheviks...How about a destructive explosive fog against all [aircraft]?..." With transmittal envelopes, and notarized letters of provenance for each piece, 1982.
