<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>The general and his adjutant. <b><font size=-1>Robert E. Lee</font></b> (1807-1870) revered commander in chief of the Confederate Armies; and <b><font size=-1>Walter Herron Taylor</font></b> (1838-1916), a merchant banker who was on Lee’s staff during the entire period of the Civil War, serving as adjutant general of the Army of Northern Virginia when Lee assumed command with rank of lieutenant colonel. Postwar he resumed his banking business; served as Virginia senator (1869-73), and authored <i>Four Years with General Lee</i>. Two separate clipped signatures, “<i>R E Lee</i>” 2½"x1"; and “<i>W H Taylor</i>” 3¼"x1". Both evidence light toning. Taylor’s signature is slightly uneven with ¼" tear with no paper loss at top edge of no affect. Attractively double matted beneath 3½"x5½" printed images, a half-length portrait of Lee in uniform; and the seated general with Taylor and another member of his staff. Attractively matted and contained under glass within wood frame. Overall 17¼"x13". Very nice.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
