<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>Two members of the General’s staff. <b><font size=-1>Charles Marshall</font></b> (1830-1902), served as CSA assistant adjutant general and inspector general, the only other Confederate at the McLean house when Lee surrendered. Postwar he practiced law in Baltimore. ALS “<i>C Marshall</i>,” 3pp, 4to, Baltimore, Dec 24, 1866. To Major H E Young regarding legal and personal matters. Boldly penned and signed in brown ink. Considerable dampstains at right edges affecting a few words of text. Plus <b><font size=-1>Henry E. Young</font></b> (1831-1918), judge advocate general on Lee’s staff, the last surviving member. ANS in response to attorney <b><font size=-1>Julian Mitchell</font></b> (1834-1918) on verso of Mitchell’s ALS, 1p, Charleston, May 12, 1893, sending payment for whiskey. Major Mitchell was commissary of General R. S. Ripley’s brigade, participating in the battle of Seven Pines and in the Shenandoah Valley under Jackson; taken prisoner at Gettysburg and exchanged at Charleston in 1864. Friendly content. Both are boldly penned and signed.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
