FRANCIS LIGHTFOOT LEE </b>(1734 - 1797) Political leader in the American Revolution, signer of the Declaration of Independence, While a member of the house of burgesses Lee urged resistance to Great Britain in the disturbances leading to the Revolution. He later served in the Continental Congress, the Virginia senate, and later he supported the U.S. Constitution. Very rare war-date A.L.S. "<i>Francis Lightfoot Lee</i>", 1p. 4to., Philadelphia, June 2, 1783 to "<i>Hon'ble Samuel Holter</i>". In full: "<i>Sir, The inclosed letter came to hand yesterday under cover direct'd to me. I did not observe the direction to you until I had partly unsealed it, which may account for the state the seal is now in, and you may be assured, that it gives me pleasure to have the honor of inclosing & forwarding the same. I have the honor to be, Sir, your most obedient serv't Hon'ble Francis Lightfoot Lee Esq'r</i>".
