LEE, FITZHUGH
(1835 - 1905) Confederate major general and nephew of Robert E. Lee who directed troops in Stuart's ride around McClellan, and fought at Antietam and Gettysburg. He also cut his way out of Appomattox only to surrender two days later. Good content A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Richland, Oct. 21, 1876, to Thomas C. Powell, Esq., in part: "...Gen. G. W. C. Lee President of Washington & Lee University Lexington Va., a son of R. E. Lee (I am a nephew) can doubtless supply you with Gen. Lee's autograph and Maj. Tom Turner...with Gen. Ewell. Turner married Gen. Ewell's step-daughter...". Very slight toning to edge, else very good.
