This lithograph print, entitled "La Colombe" (or "The Dove"), is numbered "36/120" and signed by the artist, Lebadang (1922-). Sheet measures 11" x 16". Le Ba Dang was born in Vietnam in 1922. He studied in Quantri and Hue before moving to France in 1939 where he studied in Paris and in Toulouse at Ecole des Beaux Artes. His first solo show was held in 1950 at Galerie Jeanne Bucher, and he went on to hold exhibitions in Paris, Nantes, Cannes, Dusseldorf and Cologne. In 1954 he received the Prix du Rome. His first American solo exhibition took place in 1966 at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Throughout the world he's known as a master printmaker who has created memorable etchings, serigraphs and lithographs. His works are held by the Phoenix Art Museum, the Rockefeller Collection in New York, the Museum of Arts and Letters in Paris, University Art Gallery in Lund Sweden, The Loo Collection in Tokyo, among others.
