LEADVILLE MINING MAP. Chromolithographed map of the "Leadville Mining District," copyright 1901 by Chas. F. Saunders, printed by Denver Litho. Co., 32 x 44". This map shows claims in color for dozens of mining companies, including Big Evans, Boston, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Sedalia, Cloud City, Omega, Valentine, Mammoth, Kitty and Best Friend mining companies. Leadville was founded as a mining camp 75 mi. SW of Denver, but closer to Aspen and Copper Mountain. Gold, silver, copper, lead (of course), zinc, bismuth, manganese and molybdenum were mined in the area. Many fortunes were made or enhanced (and lost) in the mines, including those of Carnegie, Guggenheim, and Marshall Field. Minor wrinkling of margins from rolling, pinholes in upper corners, minor stains in upper right corner which does not affect map.
