This hand-colored lithographic print by Marie Laurecin is entitled " Eventail Aux Deux Figures " and dates from 1926. Signed in the plate " Marie Laurencin ". Signed in pencil " ML " and numbered " 37/50 ". This print is shown as plate 106 and detailed on page 138 in the Marie Laurencin Catalogue Raisonne de L'Oeuvre Grave, edited by Daniel Parchesseau and published in 1981 by Kyuryudo.

Depicted in this surreal scene is a lovely woman playing a mandolin who appears to have the lower body of a mermaid or other creature. On the right is another female who appears to be riding a large wolf or dog. Purchased, matted and framed under glass over 30 years ago. We have not inspected the print outside its frame. Frame measures 17" x 20" x 5/8". Portion of print visible (inside matting) measures 10" x 13".



The Artnet database shows only one auction record for a print from this series. On 12/7/2000 a print from the series, lot 111, sold at auction for 4,500 FF ($1,475) at Piasa in Paris, France.
