Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4" / 9.3 x 74 R. S# 344023. Bbl. 25 9/16". Almost identical in configuration to the Luftwaffe survival drilling, this combo has a 25 9/16" bbl. set fitted w/ full length matted rib w/ pop-up U-notch rear sight & silver bead front. Caliber is engraved in milled out portion of rib at rear. Tops of bbls. are marked w/ steel type. Maker's name & address are around breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ WWII era German nitro-proofs for 2 1/2" chambers & 9.3x74 rifle cartridge w/ a proof date of 1/45. No military marks are present. Case hardened scallop backed blitz action features Greener type side safety, tang mounted rifle / shotgun selector, pin type cocking indicators on top, crossbolt 3rd fastener, side clips, & dbl. triggers (front set). Action is engraved w/ some line & geometric borders & a few sm. sprays of scroll. Maker's name & address are on each side. "SSU" logo is on trigger plate. Case hardened trigger guard has some scroll on bow & S# on short pointed tang. Steel capped pistol grip buttstock of relatively plain European walnut measures 14 1/8" over Sauer SSU hard rubber buttplate. Stock features sm. right hand cheekpiece, point pattern checkering & sling loop on toeline matching that which is soldered to bottom bbl. Matching splinter forend has Deeley type release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .719", L .719". Restriction: R .035" (FULL), L .036" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .026", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/8". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/8". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 15 oz. CONDITION: fine. Bbls. retaining about 90% original blue w/ some thinning on sides. Action retains 70% original case hardening color. Stocks retain a good portion of their original finish, buttstock has some overspray of lacquer. Chambers have been lengthened in shotgun bbls. Bores are all bright & shiny. Action is tight. Crossbolt enters action quite deeply. A screw in forend has been replaced. Buttplate does not fit well. (22-2457/MGM). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
