Beautiful and well crafted glass, etched, Victorian dresser plate
with lovely etched and filled bouquet of flowers, bees and
butterflies.
The bouquet is centered on an oval shaped piece of glass,
approx. 3/8" thick. The edge of the glass is beveled with a
small scallop figure all around. The reverse etched side has
been filled with a silvery substance (paint?) and is overlaid with
an orangy paint. The effect is very
delicate and beautiful.
CONDITION: Considering that the
glass is over 100 years old, it is in remarkably good condition.
There are 2 small edge chips and one tiny nick. There are some
minor scratches. It seems that some of the silvery filling has
been lost. None of these slight imperfections takes away from
the charm and beauty of the plate. The chips could be repaired
by a professional glass restorer without much expense. Please
ask for more details regarding restoration. The piece is sold "as
is".
