<B>LARGE QUARTZ CRYSTAL GROUP</B></I><BR> <I>Orange River Area, Namibian/South African Border</B></I><BR>The aptly named Orange River is home to this glowing explosion of red and orange prisms. Here, local tribesmen eke out a living in this fierce, sere land. The only water for miles is the river itself, food is something you bring with you and you better not get lost: there are too many places to search. Most specimens from this area feature a showy complement of iron oxide inclusion: the source of the vivid coloration. Since getting into (and out of) the area is no small feat, the selection process for specimens favors the small and easily portable. This large quartz group plays against type by being considerably larger than normal. Radiating crystals up to 2 ¾ inches long stud the upper surface of this flaming pincushion measuring 10 x 9 ½ x 8 inches. There is some minor damage to individual crystals but overall the effect is spectacular. Comes complete with a custom stand.
