<hr align=left size=5 width=33% color=#778899>Sarah Jennings Churchill, Dutchess of Marl-borough (1660-1744). Confidante of Queen Anne of England. Married John Churchill, later 1st duke of Marlborough. On Anne’s marriage (1683) she was appointed lady of the bedchamber and became a close confidante. Rare LS “<i>L: Marlborough</i>,” 1p, 12mo, n.p., May 8, 1739. In full “...<i>Mr Perrott having told me that venison would be acceptable to you, I send you the enclosed warrant, thinking that you would like better to have it when you command it your-self, than venture the Keepers bringing it at an improper time.</i>..” Slight ink feathering, o/w Fine. Although temporarily out of favor (1692-94) owing to the political disgrace of her husband, Sarah maintained a close relationship with Anne when they began to quarrel over Whig cabinet appointments. Until then Sarah had wielded considerable influence at court, but gradually Abigail Masham, a kinswoman both of herself and of the Tory leader Robert Harley, replaced her in Anne’s affections.

11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
