Exceptionally fine miniature Japanese black lacquer Kodansu with three enclosed drawers, each with a tooled pull. The openwork floral hinges and findings are delicate with tiny hand made nails which have finishing detsils also. A magnificent painted cockerel in bamboo and rockwork done in high relief guards the door.Chrysanthemums and foliage highlight the sides and top. A rare collectors work of art. Dimensions: 6 7/8"(17cm) Height,7"(17.50cm) Depth, 5 1/4"(13cm) Width Condition: Very good for period. Some wear to edges and lacquer as can be expected of am early cosmetic box. All findings are intact and original with one left front foot guard missing. If desired a rear guard could be moved to front.Additional photos upon request.
