Barbou ?], 1762. 2 vol. in-12° : xiv-[2]-268-[2]-1 à 8, [2]-viii-[2]-306-[4]-9 à 16 pp.; illustrations (restauration pp. II-183). Reliure de Bernasconi : plein maroquin rouge, triple filet doré sur les plats, dos à nerfs perlés dorés et caissons fleuronnés dorés, coupes et bordures ornées d'une fine roul. dorée, tranches dorées.
Edition dite des "Fermiers Généraux", tirée à 1.000 ex. (# Boisais) hors commerce réservés aux dits Fermiers qui auraient commandité l'ouvrage. Chef-d'oeuvre d'Eisen, professeur de dessin de la marquise de Pompadour, dont les gravures seront retirées jusqu'au XIXe siècle.
L'ouvrage est illustré des portraits de l'auteur d'après Rigault et de l'artiste d'après Vispré gravés par Ficquet,- 80 hors-texte gravés d'après Eisen par Aliamet, Baquoy, Delafosse, Flipart, Le Mire, Leveau, de Longueil et Ouvrier,- 6 vignettes (2 sur les titres, 2 à pleine page et 2 bandeaux),- et 52 culs-de-lampe par P.-P. Choffard dont le dernier le représente (Reynaud donne 52 c.-de-l. tandis que Cohen en compte 53 en intégrant le "Tombeau de La Fontaine" de l'édition de 1718 de Plassan). L'édition contient une note biographique de 4 pp. rédigée par Diderot, le texte des éditions de 1685 et 1696 ainsi que 5 contes in fine, repris à l'édition de 1718 mais qui ne sont pas de La Fontaine.
Notre exemplaire se caractérise par :
- une planche regravée par de Longueil : "Le Cocu battu" (I-23) "bien supérieure comme exécution" à celle gravée par Leveau (seules 2 pl. furent regravées),
- quelques figures découvertes ou non : (1).- découvertes : "Le cas de conscience" (II-143) et "Les lunettes" (II-207).-- (2).- couvertes : "Le Diable de Papefiguière" (II-149); "Le Bât" (II-233), "Le Rossignol" (II-295),
- qqs variantes de planches : "Le faucon" (I-157) avec bracelet,- "Alix malade" (I-229) sans ornements sauf dans la pente du baldaquin,- "Autre imitation d'Anacréon" (II-237) avec flèche,- "Féronde" (II-157) sans bonnet,- "Le Roi Candaule" (II-173) sans plateau,- "Le Tableau" (II-223) avec ornements,- "Le remède" (II-259) sans ornements.
Cohen signale comme non signées des planches qui le sont et l'inverse mais ces variantes peu signifiantes se retrouvent souvent dans les ex. collationnés.

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.
Goods will be send only after customers’ payment.
Packing and dispatching are entirely at the buyer’s own expense.
Books whose price exceed 100 EUR will be send by registered post.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR
All items are assumed to be in good condition unless otherwise stated. Buyers are kindly invited to carry out their own inspection of the lots they want to buy. All items to be auctioned are on view for several days prior to the sale.
Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
On every purchase Belgian law only is applicable, and all cases of dispute are exclusively to the competence of the Brussels Chamber.
