Griffith took his first art instruction from Frank Reaugh. Later he studied at the St. Louis School for the Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the National Academy of Design New York. He eventually settled down in Indiana, but periodically returned to Dallas. According to an article in the <I>Dallas Morning News</B></I> dated December 5, 1926, on the occasion of Griffith re-establishing a studio in Dallas, Griffith won a gold medal at the San Francisco World Fair and was invited membership in the Societte Francaise Internationale. His etchings and aquatints hung in the American Sesquicentennial International Exposition, Philadelphia (1926); and the Second International Exhibition of Modern Engravings, Florence, Italy (1927). The <I>Dallas Morning News</B></I> article cited earlier states that "it has been said of Griffith that he is a 'magician of the needle'......one of the greatest Amercian lyric etchers working today."<BR><BR> <B>Condition Report:</B> Excellent condition.
