Fabulous Lambert (1792-1852) Hitchcock desk and chair C.1920.Known as the man who created the hitchcock chair. Started in Conn. with a factory of 100 and naming the village Hitchcockville in 1818 later in 1866 to be known as Riverton. His trademark appears on the back of the chair seat in stencil "L. Hitchcocks-ville,Conn. Warranted". Constructed of maple with fine spindle turning and stenciling on the rush seated chair and desk with 6 pigeon holes and storage in between. The desk with one drawer also has another trademark,the paper in the drawer is that of 19th century classified or the village era want ads,sold ads and humorous ailment ads such as "Clays Stomach Bitters",etc. Excellent condition with exception to 3 very light rings on desk-not noticeable just an observation. Desk measures 32L X 18W X 39H with top-29.5 without. Chair 33H X 18L X 15D seat height 18. Certainly a piece of American Heritage.
