[L#3264] 1919-D 5c PCGS MS64
A lustrous golden gray specimen with a grand display of bright nickel-pure luster including some iridescence on both sides. Nicely struck, perhaps not entirely so at the bison's shoulder or the Indian's hair braid (which lies in the opposite position to the shoulder), but still well enough that its charm is enhanced immeasurably by the sharp horn, the split tail, and other areas indicative of its eminent mint state status.

The end of World War I in November 1918, witnessed a stark draw down in buffalo nickel production at both Denver and San Francisco in 1919. As far as the former mint is concerned, the total number of coins distributed that year amounted to a little more than 8 million pieces.
