Very attractive highly lustrous light olive brown and darker chocolate with attractive gunmetal blue overtones covering both sides. The surfaces are choice, free of any spots or stains and showing only a few microscopic contact marks. These include a very faint hairline scratch across the cheek (barely visible with a strong glass), another slightly stronger one from the middle of the neck down to the bust just below the neck, and a tiny tick on the left side of the O in OF. None of these marks is at all distracting but they may help identify this cent. Nicely struck E-MDS, Breen state II. Bland calls this cent MS60, holding the grade down a bit because he believes it may have been cleaned prior to 1913 sale by S. H. Chapman. Who knows, but it's certainly gorgeous now. Noyes has not seen this one, and his finest is only AU55. Bland says tied for CC#2 at MS60. A fabulous 1802 cent with outstanding eye appeal.
