[L#1021] 1799 L1C S-189 R2+ VF25.
Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate with hints of frosty lighter steel brown toning in protected areas of the reverse. The surfaces are attractive, but there is some extremely fine roughness on the obverse, strongest in the field before the portrait. The reverse is perfectly smooth, free of roughness and nearly choice. No trace of verdigris, and the only marks are a very tiny nick high on the bust near the neck and a thin nick over the left side of the T in CENT. Nicely struck E-MDS, Breen state II. The die chip over the T in CENT is strong, as are the date and LIBERTY. Called VF30 net VF20 and tied for CC#5 in the Noyes census, his photo #28125. Bland says VF25 and tied for CC#6. Either way, this is an attractive condition census example of a very important date.
