[L#0628] BERMUDA 1880-S S$1 PCGS MS69 PL
This is a noteworthy example whose lightly patinated surfaces show pinpoint striking detail throughout and are delightfully free of contact marks. Full, bold transfer from die to planchet seen in the crispness of Liberty's hair as well as the eagle's finely crafted breast feathers. An amazing fully prooflike specimen of this highly collectible date.

In 1880 the only silver coins produced at the San Francisco Mint were dollars. The silver dollars of that year were produced with care as a rule, with precise die spacing (in most instances), and today are admired for their quality, as exemplified here! It is believed that as of June 30, 1913, most of the original mintage of 1880-S was stored at the San Francisco Mint, to be paid out over a period of decades thereafter. Dollars of this date were available in quantities at face value from that location through the mid-1950s. In addition, numerous 1,000-coin bags were released by the Treasury in 1962-64. Yet despite bag quantities of 1880-S the grading services have certified few at this astounding level of near absolute perfection.
