[L#0230] 1871-CC 10c NGC MS62
Smooth neutral gray toning over flat mint luster, the surface choice, without any of the usual marks or die-rust problems common to Carson City dimes of this decade. Definitely a high-end specimen. Only 20,100 were minted. While sometimes overlooked in the pantheon of CC-mint rarities, the dimes of 1870-74 are chief among the "difficult" coins to locate in other than well worn condition. It is pleasant to report: full sharp, wide and squared-off rims, perfect strike on Liberty, her hair, drapery and shield, and similar razor-edge devices on the reverse where Longacre's cereal wreath shows no areas of flat strike. The coin is housed in NGC holder 1725688-012 and it will be many long years before another turns up in this exceptional condition. Use the NGC serial number as its reference for provenance tracing.
