[L#0070] 1793WREATH 1C VINE/BARS P MS63 BN
Choice glossy medium brown with chocolate brown toning on the highpoints and underlying frosty mint luster covering the fields and protected areas, especially on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and virtually flawless, just the barest hint of rub on the highpoints. There are a few specks of crud near the border beads at ITED and ATES, but I suspect these would be easy to remove, if desired. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state II. The wave in the field behind the head is clear but not especially strong, and the fields are smooth and slightly reflective. An outstanding Wreath Cent. Noyes photo #20376. EAC grade AU55 and third finest known.

In the Heritage's August 2004 Signature Sale, a wreath cent of comparable rarity (Lot 5084), grading PCGS MS64, sold for $138,000. Given the above specimen was graded long ago, we believe this could achieve the same PCGS grade if re-submitted, and in our opinion, should be worthy of a comparable bid.
