[L#0067] 1793 1/2 C NGC MS62
The C-1 1793 is most easily recognized by its Obverse 1 in which L of LIBERTY is slightly low and entirely above Liberty's brow; TY away from cap. Combined with Reverse A, the left branch of the wreath has 15 leaves, while the right branch has 16, with ten sprays of berries on each. In State III, a reverse chip or "cud" break occurs from the beads to the rim, covering many beads above F AME; the obverse is still unrusted at this point.

This is a particularly well struck coin that shows finely detailed hair on Liberty. The leaves on the reverse are not all completely brought up, nor is HALF CENT, which, from the photographs in the Breen Half Cent die variety book, tended to weaken as the reverse die wore. A tiny granular spot is located beneath Liberty's eye, a small nick on the neck below the jaw; also, there is a shallow depression line diagonally through C of CENT. Rims are exceptionally choice and the color warm chocolate brown with steel accents in the glossy surface. One of the better preserved 1793 half cents certified by any top-tier grading service.
