<td width="100%">
Japanese Kyoto Satsuma hexagonal earthenware vase decorated with alternates panels of human figures in kimonos and raised enamel flowers. It is signed in red Japanese characters on the bottom right of one of the figure panels. The mark's characters include Dai Nippon...Tsukuru (meaning Made in Japan). The characters in between usually indicate the name of the artist. A likely date is from around the end of the 19th century. Marks that includes "Dai Nippon" in Japanese characters date to the Meiji (1868-1912) period, reflecting the greatly increased nationalism of that period. In good used condition with crackle typical of Satsuma, minor restoration and wear to base. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs before buying.
