Exquisite Bronze Kuan Yin in Lotus Leaf - Created using the
?lost wax?
method of casting- a labor-intensive process used by artisans to
produce unique sculptures of exquisite detail.

The Buddhist Bodhisattva of Compassion is seated cross-legged
in the lotus position (vajrasana), her right hand turns up with the
thumb touching the middle finger in the gesture of discourse or
argumentation (varada mudra). Her left hand holds a scroll of
prayers, representing the dharma (teaching) of the Buddha.

Kuan Yin is one of the most universally beloved of deities in the
Buddhist tradition. Also known as Guan Yin, Quan Yin, Quan'Am
(Vietnam), Kannon (Japan), and Kanin (Bali), She is the
embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. She hears the
cries of all beings. Quan Yin enjoys a strong resonance with the
Christian Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and the Tibetan goddess
Tara. By the end of the ninth century there was a statue of Kwan
Yin in every Buddhist monastery in China. She is perhaps the
most widely revered diety in the world. The Dalai Lamai is
considered to be the current incarnation of this spirit.

To have a picture or statue of Kwan Yin in one's home brings
good luck and protection to the household.

A small symbol is engraved on the back of the statue.
