Featured in this lot is a Kwakuitl Jimmy Joseph double raven feast dish circa 1950s. The feast dish shows a wonderfully and professionally crafted cedar construction with hand carved traditional geometric patterns including colors of red, black, blue, and green. The feast dish is in two parts with one raven removable from the larger base raven. Master Carver James, also know as Jimmy Joseph, was born on May 13, 1957. He is Kwakiulth and from Alert Bay, British Columbia. Jimmy Joseph is a fourth generation carver and has been carving professionally for over 50 years. Using traditional designs, materials, techniques, and tools, Jimmy creates beautifully carved tables, masks, plaques, totem poles and many other art objects. He draws the designs freehand, and then he carves and paints them. Each piece is unique. The overall condition of this feast dish is good with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this feast dish are 12" x 27 1/2" x 11 1/2".*
