Kurt Weill autograph manuscript quotation signed to Mary MacArthur, daughter of actress Helen Hayes. Weill, composer of ''The Threepenny Opera'', draws the manuscript quotation with lyrics to his ''Song of the Free.'' It reads ''We were born free men, we'll be free until we die, there'll be none to tell us when, there'll be none to tell us why.'' The inscription reads ''Dear Mary, I just wrote this song to Archibald [MacLeish] / Macleish's mom, - and I hope it will be your / wedding march! Kurt Weill''. Above this AMQS by Weill, the American painter John Steuart Curry draws a sunburst and pastoral scene in black ink. He writes, ''For Mary MacArthur / My verses make things worses / JC''. Piece is done on a blank book page measuring 7'' x 8.25''. Near fine.
