Kunitomo, a Kamakura period swordsmith. Eldest son of Kuniie, founder of the Kyoto-based Awata-guchi school of swordsmithing. He is said to have served as an official Imperial court swordsmith for Emperor Go-Toba around 1207-1211. Tang shows KuniTomo mark - blade measures 11" newer handle and sheath 17" overall.
