Korolev Autograph on a 1958, three page, typed, draft report by Korolev to the Soviet Government (Khrushev). This report is entitled: "Research of the Moon / Program of the Research". Korolev has added four additional refinements to the report in red crayon when he signed it, also in red. He begins the report with "The level of technical development, achieved by us up to today, allows carrying out rocket flights to the Moon. There's a possibility to carry out buzzing of the moon with coming back to earth and also landing on the moon. In both cases, it's possible to fulfill complex scientific researches of Space during the whole trajectory of the flight, to study surroundings of the moon and also its surface. Such flights will prepare pre-condition for carrying out in the near future landing on the moon of apparatuses - automatic stations for direct research of physical conditions of the moon, studying the contents of its rocks and bowels. First researches of the moon will also build necessary pre-conditions for penetration in the interplanet space, to the moon and planets by humans...". He goes on to state the goals of the Soviet program that include 1) To carry out scientific researches during rocket flight to the moon, 2) Technical problems must be solved during rocket design, 3) Useful cargo located in the rockets for the moon flight a) apparatus to land on the moon, b) photography of the dark side of the moon, c) similar to b) and d) cartridges with explosives to be detonated on the moon surface. 4) tools organizing conditions for optical observations and 5) limitations in timing of the launch. It is important to note that this document is discussing all of the major questions the 1958 space industry (in both countries) was working on. All but one of them (the lunar explosion) were carried out by the early/mid 1960s - and, of course, the Soviets never got to actually land on the moon. A truly amazing document, both in its existence and the fact that it is written in plain, non-technical language. A Russian certificate of authenticity (and English translation), plus an English translation of the document, is included. Unique.
