All Original Authentic Late 19th Century Yi (Choson) Dynasty Korean Ichung Nong (Two-Unit Stacked Chest) from Kesong (Koryo Dynasty capital). This chest was selected from a recent antique expedition to Korea as a very fine example of an elegant clothing chest. It is made entirely of hodo namu (Korean Walnut), making it a rare and valuable piece. Korean furniture artisans from the Yi (Choson) Dynasty are renowned for their selection and utilization of wood grains, and for their metal designs. This piece is exquisitely decorated with a variety of unique and rarely seen white brass flora and fruit motifs. The Korean reverence for nature is evident in this striking work of art.
