This kneeling gesso figure presents a praying monk on a plinth and comes from Southeast Asia. The figure has his hands raised in front of the chest to the worship gesture, called anjali mudra. A long, traditional garment covers the body and is placed over the left shoulder. The face shows a friendly and meditative expression. The figure has a slightly light brown painted surface with remains of color in red and black brown. The figure comes mounted on a laminated base (later day).

The visually appealing gesso figure shows signs of wear. Little loss of material all due to nicks and restored breaking points on the wrists are visible. The height of the figure is 26 cm and the height with base measures 39 cm. (lvp)
