This an excellent authentic 19th Century fully top beaded Strike-A-Lite bag from the Kiowa Native American Indians. This circa 1870-1880's bag shows an Indian brain tanned Buffalo hide construction with all sinew sewing with the entire front being covered in all period correct 19th Century glass trade seed beads in a fantastic geometric pattern. The beadwork has a "zig-zag" pattern in greasy yellow, greasy blue, chalk white, and black. The bag shows a nice top flap which is accented by four strips of hand cut fringe along with four hand cut fringe at the bottom corners all being fancy beaded in black, chalk white and greasy yellow. The bottom edge of the bag shows dozens of original rolled tin jingle cones attached with hid having a nice mellow original patina. The bag overall has a very nice even authentic patina from much age and use. Provenance: Form a very prominent American Indian collection in Billings, Montana. The piece has been authenticated and is truly a fantastic example. Condition. Overall well preserved with little to slight bead loss, the bag is pliable, but also hard from much age with no apparent cracking. Very good piece that measures 10.5"L by 11"W with fringe and the bag width being 5".
