This is an original hand drawn ledger drawing from Native American Indian, Sam Lomo. The piece shows a Kiowa Chief’s Indian Warrior party meeting in a field with US Artillery Soldiers. The piece is signed lower right with fountain pen, “Sam Lomo 1920” and marked, “Kiowa Mut” (the second word starting with M cannot be read). Ledger art was created by Native Americans in the 1800’s as a way to preserve and portray their heritage and lifestyle. This piece of ledger art comes from the Wallis H. Stone collection out of Chimarron, Kansas. Just out of Dodge City. Mr. Stone has since passed away in 1992. The collection was handed down to his daughter, Melloni Stone Darcie. There were a total of around fifty artifacts and images that were found in a ledger book. This piece is from circa 1920 and is a rare large size original collectible. The frame measures 21.5" x 25.5".
