For your consideration is a Kiowa Mitchell Earl Boyiddle Print "The Spirit Lives" of a Kiowa dancer. Titled "Untitled" from The National Collection of Contemporary Indian Art (IAIA), M. Boyiddle (Kiowa), circa late 1900s to early 2000s. Kiowa master artist Mitchell Earl Boyiddle (1950-2011) grew up with a reverence for the Kiowa culture and way of life. His relatives freely expressed themselves via traditional crafts, singing and dancing, as well as painting and drawing, and he was also influenced early on by the artists known as the Kiowa Five, born in Indian Territory, came from the Anadarko area and became international celebrities while studying by invitation at the University of Oklahoma. Portraying ceremonial and social scenes of Kiowa life as their subject matter, many of the oral traditions in the Kiowa culture express the purity and distinct colors of their native landscape. This print features colours of black and various shades of light blue. The print is in very nice condition with slight age tanning. The matted wood frame is in good overall condition. Visible art measures 14.5"W x 19"L, frame is 17"W x 21"L x .875"D, weight is 4lb, 8oz.
