Southern Arapaho Warrior's Shirt
Circa 1880
Length 26 in. Width across the arms 59 in.

This native tanned deerskin shirt is decorated with beaded shoulder strips and a long triangular bib, painted dark green and heavily fringed. The body of the shirt is heavily rubbed with yellow ochre and long fringe extends from the shoulders and elbow, short fringe from the cuffs and along the bottom. Brass studs and small German silver conchos are sewn alongside the shoulder fringe. This shirt well represents the Southern Plains aesthetic.
