Kingman,AZ - Mohave County - 1907 - Apache Baby and Baskets RPC *Territorial* :
This studio photo shows a small Indian child ensconced in a cradleboard, flanked by two large patterned basket ollas, and a large basketry tray. The photographer is listed as H.H. Watkins of Kingman. Handwritten on the face of the card is “Another Little Indian” From:--Papa. The card is addressed to Miss A. Marguerite O’Brien in New York, and cancelled by a Doane postmark on March 25, 1907. There is a missing chip gone from the very bottom of the post card, and some staining around the margins. H.H. Watkins was a local businessman and banker in Kingman. He settled there in the 1880s with his wife and two daughters to open the Pioneer Drug Store. He was fairly well known for his photographs of the area and native peoples. 3.5 x 5.5.”
