Mining Industry Atlas. Clarence King. 1870. Atlas to accompany the Mining Industry Volume III of the US Geological Explorations of the Fortieth Parallel. 19.5 x 25", typical original green boards, little to no wear. This is one of the most important mining industry atlases, as it is very early and shows the development of several key mining districts in Nevada, especially the Comstock. One of the first plates is that of the White Pine, or Hamilton/Treasure City region. What follows is the first attempt at consolidating all of the data (survey and geology) from the great Comstock Lode, later detailed by Becker in the early 1880's. For those of us lucky enough to have worked on the Comstock, this is a prized atlas.City: County: StoreyState: NVDate: 1870
