King of Great Britain and Ireland (1765–1837) from 1830 to 1837, he earned the sobriquet 'Sailor King' for his youthful service in the Royal Navy. ALS signed “William P.,” one page, 7.25 x 8.75, December 26, 1821. Addressed from Bushy House, a handwritten letter to a gentleman, in part: “I have by post received yours of the 25th instant…and feel sensible of your attention and politeness; I beg you will not for a moment think of your absence from town having put me to inconvenience. I have to hope the numerous parcels or packets I may have occasionally to send either to my son or the Countess of Erroll may without impropriety be directed by you to them at Dublin.” In fine condition. The Countess of Erroll and the unnamed son (either George FitzClarence or Lord Frederick FitzClarence) referenced in this letter were two of the 10 illegitimate children of William and his mistress, Dorothea Jordan.
