King of France and Navarre (born 1755) from 1814 (save a brief interruption in 1815 while fleeing Napoleon during the Hundred Days) until his death in 1824. Louis himself claimed that his reign dated from the death of his nephew, the Dauphin Louis XVII, in 1795. Manuscript DS, in French, signed “Louis,” one page, 7.75 x 7.25, no date. Untranslated four-point document, neatly signed at the conclusion by Louis. Closely trimmed edges around signature, several pencil lines to left side, and a small pencil notation to top right, otherwise fine condition.
